First Battle of Manassas 150th Anniversary Special Edition
Sharps 1863 .54 cal. Cavalry carbine
The First Battle of Manassas, fought July 21st, 1861, marked the first major land battle between Confederate and Union forces. As brother faced brother in battle for the first time, the Confederate Army of the Potomac, led by Brig. Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard faced the equally large Union Army of NortheasternVirginia, led by Brig. Gen. Irvin McDowell. By the end of the day, two others would also make their mark - Brig Gen. Joseph E. Johnston and a relatively unknown instructor from VMI, Col. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
