In honor of this special occasion we are very pleased to offer a unique testament to our history proudly displayed on a Sharps 1863 .54 cal. Calvary carbine, one of the finest weapons of its type made today. Sharps famous straight breech models were designed primarily as military arms and were the favorite of soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. Each one of our presentation weapons is highly engraved with gold and jeweler's grade nickel.
We start our historic showcase with the difficult voyage by the early settlers from England to the New World aboard the vessels Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discover.
Additional engravings celebrate Fort James, originally built in 1607 as the settlements first defensive structure, and Powhatan Village.

The newly arrived settlers had to endure a new climate of harsh winters, limited food, and supplies. Many died due to hard conditions and inability to produce crops in this new territory. Soon the settlement was close to being lost. Things started to improve, however, with the introduction of tobacco as a cash crop by John Rolfe, known as the "golden weed", which insured the colony's economic survival.
In addition, some of the more memorable characters of this early period are honored. Among them we find Pocahontas, her father, Chief Powhatan, Captain John Smith, and Captain Christopher Newport.
**This is a very limited edition issue!
Only 400 will ever be crafted, this amounts to one rifle per 18,000 residents in the State of Virginia alone.
Rich in history and a showcase of the engraver's art, the Virginia 400th limited edition carbine is destined to become a family heirloom of Virginia and Jamestown. Interest is expected to be high. A British-style fitted leather trimmed carrying case is included.
